Cappuccino art and 5 miles

There is a new coffee shop nearby that is basically the coolest place ever. I will be sticking with Starbucks because I can not afford a 5 dollar cup of coffee everyday, but this place is nice for a date or a shopping day pick me up.

Nonfat vanilla cappuccino.

Typical coffee pic but I’ve always wanted a cute foam design put into my coffee so this was necessary.

I ran 5 miles tonight! That’s a pdr for me and I was super excited. Another mini milestone on my way to 13.1!

I have been running in the gym on the treadmill because it is so dang hot outside. I knew there is no way I would be able to stay on the treadmill for 5 miles (I would loose my mind) so I took it outside tonight. It has been raining and I went in the evening so it actually was the perfect temperature. I will be doing the rest of my runs that are more than 4 miles outside. Aside from it being much more enjoyable than running on the treadmill, it is smarter to train outside since that is where the half marathon will be. Look at me using my noggin!

The Liebster Award

Boy do I feel like a legit blogger! I was nominated by Laura for the Liebster Award! This award is for bloggers who are new to blog-land and don’t have quite so many readers yet (cough ME cough.) I am so excited. I love surveys and so this is right up my alley.

The Rules:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you and link back up to his/her blog. Answer the 10 questions which are given to you by the nominator.
  2. Nominate 10 other bloggers for the award who have less than 200 followers.
  3. Create 10 questions for your nominees to answer.
  4. Let the nominees know that they have been nominated by going to their blog and notifying them.

After doing some research on this award the rules vary. Some say the blog must have less than 2,000 readers, and some say less than 200. Some say to nominate 3 other blogs, and some say to nominate 10. I will just be nominating a few that are new to me! 🙂

Thanks again, Laura!

My answers to Laura’s questions:

1. Why do you blog?

Ever since discovering blogs 2 years ago, I have been hooked! I love love love reading my favorite blogs everyday. Finally creating my own blog has been so fun. I have never thought of my self as a writer, or even someone who enjoys writing, but this blog has made me LOVE writing! This blog is a creative outlet for me to say what is on my mind, and share what is going on in my life.

2. Who are three of your favorite bloggers and why?

Peanut Butter Fingers, Sweet Tooth Sweet Life, and Hungry Runner Girl. These are the 3 blogs I have been following the longest and read religiously every day. Julie shares great recipes, workout tips, stories about Sadie, and daily musings that I love. She also went to UCF so obvi that’s a win in my book. Courtney shares good recipes and workouts and fun stories. She is so real and honest, and I loved following her pregnancy. She is the new mama of precious Lucas! Janae literally makes me pee my pants with laughter every time I read her posts. She is HILARIOUS!! Even though I am not a legit runner, I love reading about her training and speedy runs. She is a beast. She has an adorable daughter that I wish I could babysit (creepy child obsessed me.) Really I have just learned so much about healthy living through these ladies.

3. What’s your favorite healthy snack?

I can’t pick just one! So I’ll name a few: toast with peanut butter or almond butter, cottage cheese with fruit, carrots with hummus, protein smoothie, and apple with peanut butter.

4. What’s your favorite way to work out?

Running. No other workout gives me those endorphins like running. I also love a good total body strength workout.

5. What’s your favorite thing to do when you have free time?

The first thing that popped into my head was reading! Give me a good book and I’m good to go.

6. If you could have any job in the world, what would it be and why?

Broadway performer!!! Being on stage is the greatest feeling in the world. If I were good enough, I would definitely pursue that!

7. What’s one thing on your bucket list?

The Disney Marathon. One day 🙂

8. What’s one accomplishment you are most proud of?

Pursuing what I am passionate about. I have had countless people tell me to not be a teacher. I’ve heard it all. You won’t make a lot of money, there is so much testing now, the kids will exhaust you every day, etc. I was a nursing major for a semester and then after a lot of prayer and consideration changed to Elementary Education. I have always wanted to be a teacher ever since I was a child, and that is exactly what I am going to be! I am proud of the fact that I am following my heart and doing what I want!

9. What’s one goal you hope to accomplish in the next year?

Running my first half Marathon before the end of 2013!

My nominees are:

Wedding time and training update

I love weddings. This weekend Andy’s brother got married! Him and his new wife had a gorgeous wedding and were both over the moon with joy. But really, I don’t think I’ve ever seen 2 people smile more.

Me and Andy sang a duet at the rehearsal dinner. A Whole New World in honor of the brides love for all things Disney. Now I can check that classic duet off my bucket list 😉

Andy was the best man at the wedding. He looked so handsome!

Oh and there was a photo booth.

On another note half marathon training is going well. I ran 4 miles yesterday (!!!!!!!!!!!) which is the farthest I have ever run, so I was pretty darn excited. I am thinking depending on how this training goes and how the race goes, I will sign up for another one I’m the spring. I want my dad to train with me! He used to compete in triathlons until he tore his meniscus in his knee and had to have surgery. I’m dying for him to start running again!

First football game and my fat cat

We had our first football game on Thursday. Before the game I tailgated with the KT exec board and bucketed for money. I just love these guys.

The game was fun, and we won. Go Knights!

Mila turned 1 years old on Wednesday! Us being the obsessive parents/aunts/owners whatever we are, threw her a birthday party! Okay, we baked brownies and ate them all in one night. This picture cracks me up. She has gotten so fat. Oh well, happy birthday Mila.

I came back home for labor day weekend, and my brothers birthday. I was happy to see my Magpie.

Now it’s back to Otown in the morning! I’ve got a busy week and will be coming back home again next weekend for a wedding!!!!! I love weddings!

Knight-thon and cheesecake

The new semester is off to an AMAZING start! I am definitely about to have the busiest semester I have had yet in college, but I couldn’t be more excited. I am finally in all my major classes and am actually learning how to be a teacher! Eeeeeep!! 🙂

I am definitely the kind of person who likes being busy. I like waking up and planning out my day. To do lists make my heart leap. 😉  I find that I am more productive over all when I am busy. I schedule out when I am going to read this chapter, or work out, and overall I just get more accomplished.

A big part of my life this year is going to be Knight-Thon!!!! 😀 Knight-Thon is UCF’s dance marathon benefitting the Greater Orlando Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. It is also UCF’s largest student run philanthropy! in 2013 we raied over a quarter of a million dollars for the kids. Universities all over the country put on these dance marathons, and the actual event takes place in April. I am on the Knight-Thon executive board this year, so I will be putting a lot of time in along with the rest of the board to make sure that this is the best Knight-Thon UCF has seen.

My official title is “Morale Chair.” Morale is basically a group of 50 crazy awesome students who throughout the year, practice dances, put on flash mobs, and fundraise for the event. At the event, the Morale team is the spirit of Knight-Thon. We keep everyone pumped (standing for 20 hours is no joke) and teach the 1,000+ students the Morale dance to be performed every hour on the hour. It is the best job on the board (yes i am biased) and I can’t wait for team interviews to start!!

On Saturday we had our fall retreat to Arnold Palmer hospital (one of the hospitals our money goes to.) Along with learning a lot and bonding with the board (seriously, they are the best) we took a tour of the hospital. Along with visiting the Oncology and Hematology Center, and level 1 Trauma center, we went to the NICU. We took turns going into a very dark room with lots of machines, and were able to see a 1 pound baby girl. It was an amazing moment, and the mental picture I have of that baby will serve as an awesome reminder of why we do what we do throughout the year. Truly incredible!

CMN hospitals strive to not “look or smell like a hospital.” Lets just say that Arnold Palmer fits the bill for that! This is what part of the hospital looked like. So cool, right??? My favorite part is Jack’s beanstalk and the castle. It is magical!

Homemade Knight-Thon cupcakes to end our meeting. Delish and adorable!

I put my crockpot to use for dinner last night. I stuck a chicken breast in and sprinkled it with taco seasoning. Once it was cooked (4 hours on high) and I shredded it, I added it to a salad of shredded romaine, black beans, corn, tomato, and a little salsa. It was so yummy, and me and my roommate ate every bite!

A few friends and I went to the mall this past weekend. There was a cheesecake Factory and we decided to grab slices to bring home. Great decision. Red velvet cake cheesecake, Lemon Raspberry cream cheesecake (mine,) and Carmel turtle cheesecake.)

And lastly a picture that my sister texted me of  Maggie. I am going home this weekend, and can’t wait to see her!

Unicorn bacon and a sweet deal!

I laughed entirely too long at this.

I meant to share this last week but forgot! There is a new consignment shop by my house and half of it is a boutique where she buys designer clothes and sells them real cheap. I found this skirt on the boutique side.

It was being sold for $60. I told the lady how much I loved it and she agreed to sell it to me for half off that price. So I bought it for 39 dollars. Guess how much the original price tag was for?…

$202.00!!!!!!! I was so excited .

Cute, preppy, and a bargain!! I can wear it to church, intern, teach, tea parties… Okay so I don’t go to tea parties but if I was Blair Waldorf it would be perfect. 😉

Tomato face

Running with Andy is great because he is way faster than me so I feel like I have to run faster than normal even though that is still way slower than his typical pace. 2.5 miles done!

I had to get ready super fast (like 30 second shower fast) after to go work at a school event. My face stayed tomato red like it always does after a run!

Came home and studied and hung out with the girls! Have you played the iPhone game “heads up?” It’s the funnest app ever. Download it. Now. 😀
